Where is the post?

Posted on

I told myself yesterday that I needed to write a post for tomorrow. I wrote down several drafts on different topics, but it didn’t finish, and the post had to happen.

Over the past month, in the background of work and home, various frivolous activities have happened:

  • While suggesting on meetup for the ‘hiring’ topic added ‘and off-boarding,’ and now there will such a mini-talk for 10 minutes
  • I composed limericks, a short poetry format with a punch at the end, trying to rhyme into a form in English. Remember how much I liked doing something with hokku at school
  • Quest how to sign up for the university library, whose tall building I used to observe at from the city train. I got some fabulous, valuable books
  • Ride roundtrip for a couple of hours to the library on the other side of town for another rare book. Vacation days, why not
  • Some request in the intersection of the professional and the personal, can get me involved in the new community
  • At the Christmas party, I remembered the rules of chess and somehow tried to play, even though I hadn’t touched chess in twenty years
  • Here’s where the community of authors and book authors meets weekly on Zoom; you can drop in to listen. I decided to skip yesterday’s call because a post is needed. What kind of author am I without a post?
  • I booked tickets to an Open-Source conference without strong expectations of what would be there or what profits/networking opportunities would occur. I want to meet people I’ve only seen online (FOSDEM 2025, Brussels)
  • Here, I can write to a good acquaintance with the initial message to return to coaching but quickly rush out of it, explaining that the topic comes out hard
  • Accept that I can’t read books from the library. Flip through them and put them in the stack, ready to return them. If I’ll check it out in a month, that’s great or well…
  • I’m keep doing something with chess every day. I realize I’m coming to almost nothing. Join an online club, play the first tournament, and try it out from there
  • I wrote a post by the date. Like this one. Accepting that it’s not perfect

If you’ve finished reading or skipped over here, thank you, you’re a very motivated reader. The point for the reader is that discipline around work and home leaves room for non-serious things and experiments. Digging deeper will leave the best tried and tested ideas for when something new is needed for my joy or to restore my energy.
